I'm delighted that the Government have today agreed to continue the Coronavirus voucher scheme for children in receipt of Free School Meals throughout the Summer Holidays. 

I've received many emails about this and have been pushing Ministers to change their position behind the scenes. Congratulations to England footballer, Marcus Rashford for such a successful campaign and outcome.

Previous years have seen Government funding given to Plymouth City Council to provide support to the most vulnerable families through lunch clubs. However, the unique situation we're facing as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic needs a different approach. Continuing the £15 per week voucher scheme that's been in operation during the last three months will support families at a time when large gatherings such as those usually run locally by Catered are not going to be possible.
